At St Stephens, we want every child to feel happy and excited to come to our setting. We believe that children learn best when they are enjoying their surroundings, immersed in play, and free to explore. Through play, children have the opportunity to follow their interests, be creative, and take risks in a safe and supportive environment. Play nurtures imagination, builds physical and fine motor skills, and strengthens emotional and social well-being.
We actively encourage and value play as a vital part of learning. It supports children’s engagement and interaction with the world around them, helping them develop curiosity, confidence, and independence.
To support the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum, our staff carefully observe each child to understand what they know and can do. These observations help us plan meaningful next steps and identify areas where additional support may be needed to achieve the Early Learning Goals (ELGs) at the end of Reception. Learning is always built around play and the individual interests of each child.
We greatly value our partnership with parents and carers. The insights you share about your child’s interests, experiences, and achievements are invaluable. By working together, we can plan activities and experiences that meet your child’s individual needs and support them in developing a lifelong love of learning.
