Welcome to Early Years
At St Stephens, we want children to be happy when attending our setting. We believe that children learn best when they are enjoying their surroundings, immersed in their play and exploring. Through play children can be given opportunities to explore their own interests, be creative and take risks. It develops their imagination, builds on their physical and fine motor skills and develops their emotional and social well being. We encourage children to develop their play as it is important for children in supporting their engagement and interaction in the world around them.
To support the delivery of the Early Years Foundation Stage' curriculum (EYFS) staff need to observe children to see what they can do and what they know? By observing your child, the next steps can be planned to inform areas where children need more support in achieving the Early Learning Goals (ELG) at the end of foundation. These areas are developed through play and the interest of your child.
We as a school value our parents / carers and appreciate that any knowledge you have of your child is shared with us from the beginning so we can plan activities and experiences to meet your child’s individual needs and support them in developing their future learning.
